What we get today on youtube is great, but not as great as an olive green 442 convertible being totally thrashed. Seriously impressed with this 4-speed boat—the W30 package was pretty substantial. The music and commentary makes it, though.

Just imagine the risk of rolling over and getting splattered all over the track in that thing! But worth it. It would also haul some serious ass with some tires, shorter gears, and (considering it's a '72) some breathing work. Funny to see a car like this stop and turn when people who've spent all of their time in hot hatches talk about how they are deathtraps in either situation.

lol yeah the brakes were horrid. Just a good set of modern tires would improve this car a lot in so many ways.

Yeah. Discs at all corners, some tires and maybe actually brake like there's no ABS hah. I don't see why a professional driver would stomp on the pedal and let the tires skid, because they should be able to outperform non-existent ABS by a small margin with some threshold braking.
That off-throttle sound is just sex, however.

I've actually seen this video before.
"The only way to truly test a car's ability is to spin it out in reverse."
The W-30 package was simple, but suprisingly effective when combined with the other 442 equipment.
The 442 suspension packages included with heavy duty springs and shocks, a rear sway bar connecting boxed lower control arms, and a larger front sway bar.
The W-30 had the W-25 fiberglass hood and an aluminum differential cover to help cool the fluid as well as a aluminum intake manifold and higher lift cam.

The 69 Impala test is pretty good too...
